Foraging Toys
Providing foraging toys should be the primary goal in furnishing your pet bird's cage. Instinctively pet birds have a wild nature that makes them want to move around and explore their world, and when cooped up in a cage that instinct is restricted. Providing toys that make your bird "work" not only will distract them from feather-destructive behavior, but also make them happier and more well-adjusted to being caged. While most birds will thrive from also being able to get out of their cages and explore a larger world (in a safe environment), many times this is not possible due to many factors. So providing your birds with a variety of toys that will expand their horizons, so to speak, while in the safety of their cages, will go a long way to making them a happy feathered friend.
Explosion
The Birdsafe Toys Explosion is the ultimate foraging toy! Stuff the fingertraps with your bird's favorite treats. Nuts or dried fruits work really well. The toy is constructed on a plastic whiffle ball suspended on stainless steel chain with stainless steel o-rings and quicklink. Veggie-tanned leather lace is used to attach the finger traps, along with colored wood blocks (an ABC block version is also available), to the ball. The ball can be re-used to make your own toys when your bird has destroyed all the parts.
